Shared packages
What the applications stand on: a current GTK, VTE and glycin kept in folders of their own, the house fonts, and the Odin compiler, packaged once so every application can share them.

Five things here have no window of their own. They are here because the applications need them, and because one copy shared by everything is better than a copy inside each program.
- amber-gtk4: GTK 4.16, which kat800, Pinax, Ambrosia and Amberlin Settings need and Mint 22 does not ship, kept out of the way of every other program.
- amber-vte: VTE 0.84, which kat800 needs and Mint 22 does not ship, kept out of the way just the same.
- amber-glycin: glycin 2.2, GNOME’s image loader, which decodes each picture in a sandbox; Mint 22 has no libglycin.
- amber-fonts: Source Code Pro, Source Sans 3, Source Serif 4 and the patched Nerd Font cuts the terminal uses.
- amber-odin: the Odin compiler and its language server, for building the applications yourself.
The applications are built from Odin libraries, which are described on hyperquader.com.
amber-desktop
One more package ties the suite together. amber-desktop installs the Amber
Linux suite: every application in it that is in the archive, from kat800 and
Pinax to Amberlin, elektron and the theme. It recommends the Odin compiler and
its language server, for building the applications yourself. Installing the
theme does not switch your desktop to it; you choose a profile when you want
one. The package holds no files itself, so removing it leaves the applications
installed.
sudo apt install amber-desktopInstall
Nothing here needs installing by hand: each application pulls in what it needs, and amber-desktop, above, installs the suite in one go.
